• Andy Warhol Muse Ivy Nicholson - Original Negative from Milton Green Collection
Original vintage 2 1/4" camera negative of American model and ANDY WARHOL film star IVY NICHOLSON taken in July 1952 by renowned American fashion and celebrity photographer MILTON H. GREENE and from his personal archive. This celebrated portrait was part of a session that was published in the September 8, 1952 issue of LIFE magazine.

Born in Queens, New York, Nicholson featured on runways and on covers of the fashion magazines Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle during the 1950s and 1960s. She was associated with Andy Warhol’s Factory and appeared in Soap Opera (1964), The Loves of Ondine (1968), as well as Les Femmes with Brigitte Bardot. She was rediscovered on the San Francisco streets in 1987 by photographer Eric Luse as a “bag lady,” with a disquieting and “ruined beauty.” She eventually resurfaced, wrote and directed the film The Dead Life in 2005.

This is the original negative (film) that was in the camera at the time the portrait was taken and is therefore the only one of its kind in existence. (Please note this listing is for a camera negative, not a photograph. The scan is of its positive view.)

Signed and Numbered. The artwork will be shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity with matching holograms.
